About

Anyone that's followed me before knows I'm just a longtime fan of video games, particularly retro gaming and fighting games. I've gamed since I was put on a stool to stand to play Pac-Man.

I got bit by the fighting game bug with SF2: The World Warrior, and remember cutting study hall to go play the game in the drugstore across the street. Back when we had hand-written notes and had no idea of shit like 'frame data', and combos didn't scale. (Fierce, Fierce, Fireball!)

Seeing Tekken 1 in the arcades floored me, as cheap as the original game was, and Tekken 2 got me further into it. Tekken 3 was probably the game that changed me, as it really turned up my want to compete back then.

Moving on to compete locally around Philadelphia in the Tekken 3 years(mostly with Tekken, some King of Fighters/Samurai Shodown and SF Alpha), I got out of competing around 2000s(I was always local, you won't see my name on any big tournament in those days, what little there were), and sorta regret it, but started to try to get back into the swing of things some time back. We'll see where it takes me!

Goals: Do some more competing fall of 2017 after Tekken 7 drops on consoles! I regret getting out of it so long, but no time for that...time to git gud again.

Til then I usually like bullshitting about fighting games, doing theorycraft, scribbling out random strategies and the like. These days I focus mostly on Tekken with a side of Guilty Gear(though I tend to write more about Tekken in terms of strategy and theorycraft.) I do enjoy other fighters as well more casually; due to having a family(a minion, which you'll probably hear about in the odd personal post, and the hubby-I live in Helsinki these days), and enjoying other games as well.

Favorite characters include the five in my banner in Tekken(Sergei, Lars, Lee, Kazuya and Hwoarang), along with dabbling with Bryan Fury. Guilty Gear these days I'm partial to Sol and Raven. SFV I'm into Alex and Necalli(though with Urien coming up...Crush, Kill, Destroy!)

Ehm...I guess some of my other favorite series include Castlevania, old Final Fantasy, Phantasy Star...lots of NES/SNES/Sega/Genesis games(oh yeah, and Turbo), PS1 might be considered retro these days(with Vagrant Story and Symphony of the Night topping my favorites. The first Darksiders game was excellent! Also play MMOs casually(used to raid pretty hard.)

I'm bad at self-discussion so even my about page sounds like a technical write-up.
